Susan BOSCAWEN Stress less over the holidays In addition to The Giving Tree, and just for fun, there will also be a decorated wooden letterbox in front of the Hub for sending letters to Santa Claus at the North Pole. Cards will be passed along to Andover School and Andover Town Office staff for distribution to those who can use some help during the holidays or in the coming winter. Gift cards in any amount that can be used for groceries, gas, or household needs can be put through the decorated mail slot to the right of the Hub’s front door (or mailed to The Andover Community Hub, PO Box 157, Andover NH 03216 if donors prefer). ■The second annual Giving Tree, a community-wide campaign to encourage the spirit of holiday giving to residents struggling financially, has begun at The Andover Community Hub and continues until Dec. 12 and 19 to enjoy the display, as well as cookies and cider. Residents, and especially those with kids, are welcome to stop in on Dec. 6 The display is lighted and features an electric train, a swan pond and small figures going about their activities, and is the collection of Andover resident Renee Goodwin. This also includes any other time the Hub is open throughout the holiday season and until Jan. ■A miniature snow-covered New England village will be on display for local residents to enjoy at the Andover Community Hub from 2 to 4 p.m. To register and for details if purchasing one’s own fabric, email or call (603) 491-0826. Participants can purchase their own fabric or the instructors’ kits with fabric, available for $13 each. Participants will make either a “Nine Patch” block table runner for beginners or the “Friendship Star” half square triangle pattern for those with experience.
